Meet Dr. Kevin G. Smith

Dental Anesthesiologist

Dr. Kevin G. Smith hails from the Great Northwest. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. After pursuing a Biology Major in college and a two-year mission for his church in Seoul, South Korea, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Oregon Health and Science University.

Dr. Smith’s post-doctoral training included an internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he became well acquainted with hospital protocols and emergency rooms. He entered Dental Anesthesia Residency after matching to the distinguished Loma Linda University program, whereupon his wife and four daughters moved to sunny California. During his training in Loma Linda Medical Center, as well as in several affiliated surgery centers and hospitals, he gained valuable experience in various applications of anesthesia delivery ranging from transplant and neurosurgeries to spine surgeries, pediatric ENT and dental cases. His training included an emphasis on pediatric patients and patients with special needs in both the hospital setting as well as the ambulatory surgery center, and importantly, in out-of-hospital office settings.

After residency, Dr. Smith and his family moved to Texas. He provided in-office anesthesia services for pediatric dentists throughout the Lone Star state for over a decade.

Happily, new opportunities have brought Dr. Smith and his family to the North Star State–Minnesota! Dr Smith’s general warmth, gentleness, professionalism, and concern for others make him a favorite with patients in the setting of dental anesthesia. He has been privileged to offer anesthesia services specifically to over 15,000 pediatric dental patients and considers himself very much at home with the younger population in the dental community.

Dr. Smith is a board certified diplomate of both the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a fellow in anesthesiology of both the American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. In addition, Dr. Smith is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the International Anesthesia Research Society.
